About Our Training Program for Horses

We train horses in dressage basics, allowing each horse to move onto any chosen discipline.

Emphasis is placed on balance, collection, stretching, bending,
leg yields (lateral movement off the leg), and lead changes.
We train the horse to respond to classically accepted cues for each movement.
Our horses all work the same way using correct aids based in classical seat equitation.

We can take your horse from green broke on up to whatever level of training is desired.
The horse started for hunter over fences and open jumper is first schooled
thoroughly on the flat,
with emphasis on ground rails/cavaletti work.
The next step is slow, unrushed fence work - no over-facing,
which is the cause of so many problems,
e.g. stopping, running out, and bucking on landing.

The horse learns to tuck evenly, bascule, and engage its hind end in correct fence form.
We build the horse's level of confidence, skill, and physical capability through each step
and progress only as fast as the horse's level of confidence,
skill, and physical capability permits.

We use no fads, gimmicks, or trends in our training program -
just classic, time-tested methods and techniques
from the world's classically trained expert riders and trainers.

Training fees:

We set a fee schedule when a horse is sent to us for an agreed-upon period of training,
i.e. training board is paid for each month and training sessions for each week
are added to the training board fee.
Training board fees are due on or before the first of each month.
The weekly training fees are due
each week on or before the Sunday beginning each week.

We encourage you, the owner, to be involved in the on-going training and request that you
sit in on a few of the training sessions to see the progression of your horse
and how the horse got to that level. We also request that before the horse leaves
our facility that you schedule a few lessons on your horse so that you can
learn how your horse works and confirm that
your horse responds to the classical cues for each movement.

We invite you to call us at 717-432-2828 to schedule an appointment to
visit our facility or to discuss your horse's training needs.
